British Transport Police (BTP) chose Lexonis to help them to implement SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age). Lexonis worked with BTP to identify SFIA skills and levels for all jobs within the IT function at BTP and to update their job descriptions. Lexonis’ software is now used to generate SFIA job descriptions, capture employees’ skills, identify learning requirements, career paths and to analyse the capability of the IT function:

“Lexonis helped us to redefine our IT job descriptions using a combination of SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age), technical skills and behaviours, which has made them much simpler to understand and much more usable. Their process for skills profiling our jobs was well received by all participants and we are delighted with the results.

Lexonis have also provided us with software tools to capture employee skills, identify skill gaps and determine our learning needs; the ability to provide us with a solution that included consulting, training and software was one of the key reasons that we chose them and having worked with them I can say that they have exceeded all our expectations.”

Common Data Access (CDA), a subsidiary of Oil and Gas UK, provides subsurface Exploration and Production data for the UK’s oil industry. One of CDA’s key objectives is to increase recognition for the work that E & P data managers do and to elevate the profile of data management as a profession. CDA commissioned Lexonis to supply a competency portal so that CDA members can assess their data management competencies, provide supporting evidence, generate their competency profiles and identify their learning needs.

“We liked the idea of working with Lexonis because of their combined experience with competencies and the Oil and Gas industry. At the same time, it was important for us that the system that we chose should be very easy to use and should offer real benefits for our members. Lexonis’ experience of developing competency systems – what works and what doesn’t – was invaluable for us during the design process.

The CDA Competency Portal that Lexonis have provided is really simple to use and provides longevity as it covers our future as well as existing requirements. I am pleased we selected Lexonis and we are looking forward to working with them on the next phase of our project.”

Alan Shrimpton, Director of Raefen, commissioned Lexonis to develop skills-based job profiles while working as the Head of IT for a Public Sector organisation in the UK. The job profiles developed by Lexonis included skills from SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age), technical skills and behavioural competencies. Here is what Alan had to say about working with Lexonis:

“I found Lexonis’ knowledge of SFIA and competency based job descriptions to be very good, but what really impressed me was their pragmatic approach to the use of SFIA, and their commitment to developing a set of job descriptions that were right for both the organisation and the individual. They were very much part of the team for the duration of the project and delivered a first class piece of work.”

Rawabi Holding invested in 11 competency libraries from Lexonis and engaged us to customise the competencies to the organisation’s requirements:

“We did a great deal of research but we quickly realised that the libraries supplied by Lexonis were the most comprehensive, rich and detailed to be found. The libraries follow a consistent structure which will make it easier for us to add jobs and competencies in the future and to realise the benefits of using the data with technology.
Working with Lexonis – both in terms of the material and the consultancy support they offer – has helped us to move forward much more quickly and easily in developing a comprehensive competency framework for our business, than would otherwise have been the case.”Ghaleb Alghoutani, Recruiting Unit Head

The Open Group, responsible for IT standards such as TOGAF commissioned Lexonis consultants to map the SFIA and European e‑Competence frameworks to 2 of the Group’s certified programs:

“We engaged Lexonis to map the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) and European e-Competence (e-CF) frameworks to the skill requirements for The Open Group Certified IT Specialist (Open CITS) and The Open Group Certified Architect (Open CA) programs. The Lexonis consultants spared no effort in arriving at a well-thought-out and innovative solution. We found them to be extremely knowledgeable, particularly with SFIA and very adaptable too, carrying out a number of revisions until we were able to arrive at a solution that we are delighted to include as part of our certification resource library”Steve Philp, Marketing Director

We developed a SFIA assessment solution for a major client of Tasman HR:

“Lexonis developed an intuitive SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age) skills assessment solution for one of our major clients. The solution allowed us to capture the core IT skills (SFIA and custom frameworks) of each employee and to understand what the capability was of the IT function through a set of comprehensive, yet configurable reports. The technology was ideal, we hardly had to provide any end user training and the Lexonis team were both highly responsive and very accommodating in fine tuning it to meet our client’s requirements.”Lee Haakmester, Director
